A winding pathway through an atrium filled with flowers, koi fish, and quail allows visitors to walk among butterflies from all over the world. Staff members are available for questions and “show and tell” demonstrations. A continuously running video explains the butterfly life cycle, and exhibits enable visitors to observe eggs, caterpillars, cocoons and chrysalides with information about each species. A gift shop is on the premises. There is a public picnic area and free parking is available.

Pass Benefits

- Pass offers one free general admission ticket. Children 2 and under are free.

- Hours of Operation: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Valentine's Day through Columbus Day). The Butterfly Place is closed on Easter Sunday and July 4th.

- Message from the Butterfly Place: You do not need to purchase tickets ahead of time or make a reservation unless you have 15 or more people. Ticket sales end at 3:30 PM, and no new customers will be admitted into the exhibits after 3:30 PM. We suggest you arrive no later than 3:00 PM. To really enjoy our butterflies, plan to spend at least an hour.

- Please note: You MUST bring the physical coupon to the Butterfly Place when you visit. The email reservation will NOT be accepted for free admission.

Acton's Discovery Museum, located on a 4-acre campus, is aimed at providing an environment in which play becomes a conduit for learning about science, technology, and nature. The museum’s building contains a number of galleries dedicated to teaching scientific concepts in a fun, hands-on environment, as well as themed play spaces for younger visitors. Outdoors, Discovery Woods includes a nature playscape with a cargo net climb, nest swing and beaver lodges, as well as a treehouse with an observation deck and a bouncy bridge. There are opportunities to practice orienteering with provided maps and instructions on trails on the property. A museum shop is on the premises. The museum building is fully ADA compliant, with exhibits based on Universal Design principles.

- Pass offers half-off general admission for up to three (3) visitors; children under 1 are free (additional people in your party pay regular admission prices).

- Admission is good for Discovery Museum and Discovery Woods.

- Valid only during Public Hours. Please visit their website to confirm their public hours.

- The Museum is CLOSED on most Mondays during the school year, except for school vacation weeks and some holidays.

- All visitors must reserve an entry ticket for a specific day and time prior to visiting the Museum campus; you must check into the Museum within one hour of your reservation time, and may stay as long as you like. Tickets are only valid for the date and time selected. Library patrons can reserve tickets on the Museum's website prior to your visit and pay upon arrival. On-site ticket purchases will only be available if the Museum is not at capacity. The Museum strongly advises visitors to confirm their public hours by visiting their website, www.discoveryacton.org, or by calling the Museum at (978) 264-4200.

The House of the Seven Gables, one of the oldest surviving timber-framed mansion houses in continental North America, was the setting of Nathaniel Hawthorne's famous 1851 novel of the same name. The historic site which includes the house (a National Historic Landmark District) includes a guided tour of the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion (the House of the Seven Gables) and visits to the Nathaniel Hawthorne Birthplace, the Colonial Revival seaside gardens, and the Counting House, with a maritime discovery zone called “Kids' Cove at The Gables.” (An audio tour of the gardens, grounds, and waterfront is available through the UniGuide App.) Lectures and seasonal living history labs are scheduled throughout the year, and a changing annual exhibition examines various aspects of the institution's 350 years of history. There is a gift shop on the premises. The website has virtual field trips and interactive exhibitions that can provide helpful background information before a visit.

Pass Benefits

This pass will admit up to 4 people at a 50% discount on tickets to the Museum’s Exhibit Halls. Children under 3 are not included in the count of 4 and are always admitted for free but must have a timed ticket.

Your Library pass can only be used on the date printed on the pass.

YOU MUST ALSO CALL THE MUSEUM TO RESERVE A TIMED TICKET. Call 617-723-2500 (daily, 9am – 5pm). Please call at least 2-3 days ahead to reserve your time slot otherwise the Museum might be fully booked.

After you make your timed reservation with the Museum, they will send you an email confirmation with your reservation time.

Please bring both your library pass confirmation (printed or displayed on a phone) and your email confirmation from the Museum when you visit. Show both confirmations at the gate to enter. You do not need to stop at the Box Office.

If you are unable to show your Library confirmation on a phone, you may print out a copy using the link in the confirmation email or request a paper copy from the library.

The New England Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals, from the giant Pacific octopus to Northern fur seals to little blue penguins. They offer a wide range of exhibits, including a shark and ray touch tank and the Giant Ocean Tank, a four-story coral reef featuring hundreds of Caribbean animals. In addition, they have an IMAX theatre and run whale watch boat excursions in partnership with Boston Harbor Cruises from April through November.

The original, dated pass must be presented at the Aquarium Box Office ("General Admission" line) at the time of the visit. Visitors with library coupons are granted immediate entry after purchasing discounted tickets, even if the Aquarium is sold out to the general public at that time.

- This coupon offers 50% off admission to the New England Aquarium, for up to four (4) people. Reduced-rate admission payment must be paid at the Aquarium Box Office to gain entry. Children under the age of 3 are always admitted free.
